According to the website of the Chinese Embassy in South Korea, on October 21, the spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in South Korea introduced the situation of search and rescue on the missing of four Chinese crew members on board a South Korean fishing boat that capsized recently.
According to the South Korean report, at 14:00 local time on October 20, a South Korean fishing boat capsized in the waters 168 kilometers northeast of Dokdo (called Takeshima in Japan). Nine crew members on board fell into the water and disappeared. Four of them were Chinese citizens. There are 3 Korean crew members and 2 Indonesian crew members. The South Korean government urgently dispatched a total of 4 maritime police and navy ships, 3 helicopters, 1 fixed-wing aircraft, as well as 2 official ships and 2 private fishing boats to the sea area where the incident occurred to conduct search and rescue operations. According to the latest news, two Chinese crew members and one Korean crew member were rescued at 7 am on the 21st and were rushed to a hospital on Ulleungdo by a Korean helicopter for treatment. No other survivors have been found.
The Chinese Embassy in South Korea attaches great importance to it, immediately activates the emergency response mechanism, establishes a hotline with the maritime police and other departments, and promotes the South Korean side to search for the missing and treat the rescued.
