China’s Third-generation Nuclear Power Technology “Hualong One” Passed European Certification

The EUR organization is composed of 14 large European power companies from France, the Czech Republic, Finland, the United Kingdom, Germany, Slovenia, Ukraine, Hungary, Spain, the Netherlands, Russia, Belgium, Turkey and other countries. It is committed to providing nuclear power technologies that intend to enter the European market. Develop a set of general user requirements documents that meet European nuclear power safety, economic and environmental requirements, and be responsible for organizing experts to review and certify compliance with EUR requirements for nuclear power technologies that may enter the European market, and conduct overall technology for European nuclear power owners check. Passing the EUR certification has become an important condition for nuclear power technology suppliers to enter the European power market.
According to reports, the EUR document covers more than 5,000 requirements for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of nuclear power plants, including safety, performance, systems and equipment, layout, instrumentation and control, operation and maintenance, environmental protection, and decommissioning. The latest version of the EUR (E version) is the latest version released by the EUR organization in accordance with the latest international nuclear power safety requirements and market needs, taking into account the experience feedback of the Fukushima nuclear accident in terms of safety.
“Hualong One” is a third-generation nuclear power technology independently developed by China. Its EUR certification was fully launched in August 2017, with the participation of 11 member units of EUR. The certification has gone through four stages: application, preparation, detailed evaluation and finalization. During the certification process, the reviewer completed more than 5,000 conformity analyses based on a large number of review documents submitted by China General Nuclear Power Corporation.
