Zara Asia’s Largest Store Opens in Beijing
Zara Asia’s largest store opened today on Wangfujing Street, Beijing. In order to fulfill the all-round sustainable development commitment, the store will cooperate with the China Environmental Protection Foundation to collect used clothing and packaging materials for recycling, and use renewable energy and electronic receipts.
Zara Wangfujing Store has four floors and covers an area of over 3,500 square meters. The store has an “online ordering” area, and each floor has a fast payment area; in addition, through Inditex Group’s proprietary inventory integration management technology, store inventory can be used to satisfy online orders at the same time.
In 2018, Zara stores in China fully achieved the goal of high efficiency, energy saving and environmental protection, two years earlier than expected. Compared with traditional stores, these sustainable environmental protection and energy-saving measures can save stores up to 20% in average electricity consumption, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption by up to 50%. The new store also uses environmentally friendly and energy-saving technologies and is connected to the group’s central energy management and water management system Inergy. At the same time, the store uses renewable energy and electronic receipts.
In order to fulfill the all-round sustainable development commitment, Zara Wangfujing store is also specially equipped with used clothes recycling bins. As part of the cooperation plan with the China Environmental Protection Foundation, the old clothes collected in the store will be recycled again. In addition, all other materials received in the store, such as cardboard, plastic and packaging, will be recycled and reused.
In May 2004, Inditex Group, one of the world’s largest fashion retail groups, opened China’s first Zara store in IFC in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. At present, the Inditex Group has nearly 10,000 employees in China, with footprints in more than 50 cities in China.
